WELCOME TO BEATRICE MIDDLE SCHOOL
by Randy Schlueter
Welcome To BMS
Welcome to the Home Page for Beatrice Middle School. I am Randy
Schlueter, Principal of Beatrice Middle School. This is my ninth
year as Principal of the middle school, having served as the
Assistant Principal for three years prior to that. The middle
school consists of 520 students in grades 6 through 8. There are 42
certified staff members in eight teaching teams: two at each grade
level, an exploratory team, and a special education team. The
building also has 25 classified staff members who help to create
the success of the school.
The teaching staff at Beatrice Middle School is a quality staff
dedicated to the success of the students at Beatrice Middle School.
The staff members are committed to meeting the needs of the
students that they come into contact with on a daily basis. Staff
members use a variety of teaching techniques to meet the needs of
the varied learning styles of the students in the building. The
middle school is an inclusionary school with all students taking
part in the learning within the classroom. To meet those needs, the
staff at the middle school differentiates the instruction and
method of instruction to accommodate all learners.
Each year, Beatrice Middle School establishes goals, short and long
term, which the administration and staff members will focus on
during the school year. This year, the middle school is working on
improvement of reading and character education. Each of the goals
is driven by the Beatrice Public Schools Mission Statement.
Beatrice Middle School is proud to be a Character Counts! School.
Our school has been an active participant in the development of the
Beatrice Public School Essential Behavior Skills program. The
school district has made a commitment to improvement in character
education of the students by developing K-12 program that teaches
students social skills that help them to be successful in the
school system and in their community. Each week the staff at the
middle school focuses on one skill and teaches that skill during
Mentor Period on Monday and then integrates the skill into their
class during the week. By teaching and re-teaching and using the
same language in all classrooms, students will develop a better
understanding of the skill and be able to use the skill in
appropriate situations.
