2.  FOOD AND BEVERAGES WILL NOT BE ALLOWED IN ROOM 225!  Any food or beverages in the lab may be confiscated and appropriate discipline will be assigned.

3.  Please complete papers and tests in pencil or blue/black ink.

4.  The quarter, or semester grade will be determined by the following method:

COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY COURSES Grading Scale:
HOMEWORK/QUIZZES 33%   93-100  A
WORK ETHICS   34%        86-92 B
TESTS    33%        78-85  C
     70-77 D
Below 70  F

5. A student's grade in Computer Technology is a CONTINUING grade.  Due to the flexibility of individual credit, each quarter grade will not be weighted the same.  A student's grade begins on day one and continues through the end of the semester.  Thus your grade at the end of the first quarter is your quarter grade; your grade at the end of the second quarter is your quarter grade AND your semester grade.

 6.  Computer Technology and individualized instruction allows for students to work at their own pace.  Some students will complete more than 5.0 credits each semester some students will complete less than 5.0 credits each semester.  Because no more than 5.0 credits may be awarded for each course (Computer Tech 1, Computer Tech 2, etc), each time a student completes the require credits for a course, they will automatically be enrolled in the next consecutive course(s).  All courses, grades and credits will be recorded at the end of each semester.

 7.  Testing out.  Students may come to class with advanced knowledge of skills in a specific program.  Students with advanced knowledge of programs (software), may choose to ?testout? of these unit(s).  To receive credit for testing out, the student must achieve at least an 80% on the test.  If an 80% is not achieved then the student will be required to complete all homework and retake all tests for that unit.  If any portion of the unit work is not completed, a 0% will be awarded.  Also, failure to receive at least an 80% during an attempt to test out, will result in your retake test grade being lowered by 10 points.  (i.e. if you score a 90% on the retake, your test score is recorded as a 80%.)

8.   Retests will be offered for each unit completed only if the student's score is extremely low.  The final grade will be determined by an average of the original score and the retake score.  A maximum 80% will be awarded for this combined score.

9.  All policies of the student handbook will be enforced.

10.  The tardy policy will be as follows:

3rd tardy --  Teacher calls parent and documents the call.

4th tardy --   Teacher assigns 30 minutes of detention to be served within one week in Room 200,

5th tardy --   Teacher assigns 1 hour of detention to be served within one week in Room 200,

6th tardy --  The teacher sends the student, with a referral form, to the office.

7th tardy --  The teacher sends the student, with a referral form, to the office.  The student is removed from that class with a WF (withdrew failing) grade and is placed in study hall.

11.  The computer hardware and software must be treated with respect.  We are fortunate have up-to-date computer labs and we are expected to keep them in their best condition.  Any tampering with machines or software will be dealt with appropriately.  Violators could be held responsible for repair or replacement of any broken hardware and any service charges for correcting software, as well as forfeiting all credit and removal from the class .

**(Instructor reserves the right to change any of the above policies-- if there is a change, you will be notified in of this in class.)
