Gung Hey Fat Choy!

Week of January 30, 2006

Happy New Year!  Chinese New Year began on January 29.  We learned about the Chinese traditions of this celebration.  One of 12 animals is the animal of the year.  2006 is the Year of the Dog.  We figured out what the animal was for the year each of us was born.   The Chinese believe the dragon is good luck.  We practiced our math facts on a dragon gameboard.  We made Chinese lanterns to hang in our room.  We tried to make fortune cookies but they flopped! :-)

Wednesday was Groundhog Day.  We read some stories.   We added new words to our word wall.  We changed our desks around in our room.  We made lovebugs out of all different colors and sizes of hearts.  They will be displayed at Aunt Mary's.

We are excited about doing a puppet show on Feb. 22!  We have been practicing our scripts. We can't wait to start making our sack puppets.

We finished our Coke puzzle!  Now we are starting another 500 piece one called Toys from the Attic.

Super Kid is Kelsey.
