Portfolios

A portfolio is a collection of student work and thoughts that give evidence of a student’s learning, development, and achievement over a period of time. A student’s strengths, weaknesses, and a more distinct picture of the student can be viewed. Information gained from the portfolio can be helpful for the teacher and for the student in setting goals, making decisions, and evaluating progress. The person that benefits the most is the student since the portfolio and the work inside is centered on the student. Each student can then develop a sense of responsibility and be held accountable for one’s own education.
