Welcome Back to School
Welcome to the 2007-2008 school year!
I hope all BHS students and their families have had a relaxing and refreshing summer and are looking forward to starting another great year at Beatrice High School. As we approach the first day of school, I am confident that this will be an outstanding year for BHS.
Freshmen to BHS will be required to attend school on Thursday, August 16th beginning at 8:15 a.m. During this time, we will meet in the Hevelone Center and conduct a "Welcome to BHS" pep rally. This pep rally provides our freshmen the attention and instruction they need to assist the transition from middle school or from other schools. During the pep rally, we plan to have guest speakers, the BHS band, cheerleaders, dance team and BHS staff speak to provide an exciting way to begin the school year. Freshmen will also receive their student handbooks. BHS policy and procedures will be addressed in small learning groups, led by BHS staff. Freshmen will be dismissed at 11:45 a.m. and are encouraged to participate in a lunch conducted in front of BHS. We are looking forward to spending the morning with the incoming freshmen. This schedule provides all new 9th graders the opportunity to ask questions and have the building, hallways, lockers and BHS staff to themselves.
All grades of BHS students will attend a full day of school on Friday, August 17th, 2007. Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors will receive their student handbooks containing information intended to help them have a successful and rewarding school year. Please take time to look at this handbook and visit with your student about our basic high school rules and policy. In an effort to communicate with parents/guardians about expectations and opportunities at BHS, we are asking that parents sign the form indicating that you have received and viewed a copy of the Student/Parent handbook. This signed form must be returned to the BHS Student Services office no later than August 24th, 2007.
I would encourage parents/guardians of the students who attend Beatrice High School to take an active role in your child's education. Please feel free to visit BHS at any time. Contact with teachers and administration with questions and/or concerns is encouraged and appreciated. Thank you is advance for supporting your child, their education, and Beatrice High School.
Have a great school year!
