Students in Ms. Townley's Social Studies Classes Build Greek Structures
by Ms. Townley
Students in Ms. Townley’s 7th grade Social Studies classes got the opportunity to be Greek architects for a day! Greeks insisted on certain guidelines. Everything they composed, built, made, danced, sang, or explained had elements of beauty, symmetry, clarity, balance, proportion, and function. Students brought in pictures of Greek buildings and then chose one as a blueprint for reconstruction. Only a limited amount of materials were able to be used including; paper clips, rubber bands, scotch tape, thumb tacks, 10 pens and 8x12 paper. Students only had one class period to reconstruct a Greek building.
