Back to school letter for parents
August 1, 2009
Dear Parents,
We are very excited and pleased to have the opportunity to spend
this school year with your child. We are aware that teaching must
begin with making your child feel at home in our classrooms. It
will be important to help all of the children come together into a
learning community made up of unique individuals, each with his or
her own learning style, interests, history, hopes and dreams. To
help us know more about your child please complete the attached
information sheet and send it in your child’s backpack on the first
day. Please bring all of the requested school supplies and snack
(see attached note) in a bag or backpack on the first day if
possible.
Supplies requested:
1 child size fiskars scissors
1 standard size eraser
1 backpack brought daily (large enough for large library books)
1 large box of Kleenex
1 bottle of Elmer’s glue (not gel)
12 small glue sticks
2 boxes of Crayola crayons (24 count, no Roseart brand)
1 8 pack of washable markers (any color)
1 plain pencil bag (Approx. 10” x 6”)
1 plastic 2 pocket folder (Mrs. Frerichs only)
1 12 pack of Crayola colored pencils (no Roseart)
• Please put your child’s name on all items. If you have crayons,
markers, colored pencils or other supplies you would like to donate
to our Art center you can send them along too!
• The children can begin arriving on the kindergarten patio in the
morning at 8:15. The bell to go inside rings at 8:25 and the tardy
bell rings at 8:30. There is no adult supervision before 8:15 so
your children shouldn’t be at school before then unless they’re
eating breakfast at school or ride the bus to school. If your child
attends a day care please let your day care know the children
should not be here before 8:15. If they’re eating breakfast at
school they can go directly to the gym beginning at 8:00. School
will dismiss at 3:20(we generally let kindergartners out at 3:15 so
that we are sure to get everyone to the right place) and the
children need to be picked up promptly because there is only
supervision until 3:25. On our first day of school we will dismiss
at 11:40.
Enjoy the last few days of summer vacation! We look forward to
seeing your child on Tuesday, August 18th!
