WHAT ARE CAREER ACADEMIES?
A partnership between Southeast Community College, ESU5 area schools and business and industry.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF AN ACADEMY?
Academies are career focused, college credit courses available to high school students. Classes may be face-to-face, distance learning, or on-line!
Career Academies offer...
- Real-world learning experiences
- Dual Credit Classes (college and high school credit)
- Opportunities to participate in student organizations
- Comprehensive Programs of Study
- Career exploration activities in your area of interest
- Transferable college credit through Southeast Community College
- Competencies needed for getting started in today’s high-demand and high-wage job market.
HOW DO I PARTICIPATE IN THE CAREER ACADEMIES?
Talk with your high school counselor when registering for next school year to learn the requirements needed to participate. You may be traveling to area businesses, other school locations, hospitals or medical clinics depending on your classes. Since these will be college-level courses, you will need to be committed to the rigor and expectations of college.
Enrolling is easy. Three Steps to Get Started...
- Learn more at SCC’s Web site: www.southeast.edu
- Talk to your parents and teachers about the Academy that interests you.
- Meet with your counselor to apply, register, & discuss fitting Academy classes into your program of study.
