The Science Chicks Are Here!
7 South Welcomes Its Newest Members!
by Stacy Sykes
7 South science students have been watching the eggs for approximately 19 days. Mr. Vetrovsky's students have been patiently waiting for the chicks' arrival. This is all a part of the class study of embryology. The students had to turn the eggs twice a day usually in the morning and in the late afternoon. Once the chicks were all hatched they concluded the unit with figuring the percent of hatch. Eighty-two percent of the eggs hatched meaning a total of 73 chicks out of a possible 89 survived. The students were allowed to handle the chicks and some of the chicks were given names. Overall, the project was a huge success and, as always, the students of 7 South enjoyed it.Check out the link below to view a chick's hatching!
