THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Winning isn’t everything. Wanting to win is. – Catfish Hunter, Major League Hall of Famer, right handed pitcher between 1965 and ’79.
CONGRATULATIONS: Cross Country teams on a successful meet last night. Boys tied with Aurora for first place and the Girls came in second to Tri-County. Matt Dunker placed 1st, Lucas Martin 6th and Taylor Jurgens 9th. Jessica Wolken, Jessica Pinkerton and Taylor Garton placed 4th, 5th and 6th respectively.
EVENTS & ACTIVITIES - TODAY
VARSITY GOLF: at Grand Island Invite, all day
JV GOLF: at Tri County Invite, all day
VOLLEYBALL: Beatrice 12 team Invite starts tonight at 4:30 on 6 gyms throughout the city. Beatrice will play Hastings at 4:30, Norfolk to follow after a 20minute warm-up then Om. Skutt after a 30 minute rest all in the O-Zone.
FRESHMAN FOOTBALL: NO PRACTICE after school today. Practice will be MONDAY at 4:00 p.m.
FOOTBALL: at Norris for a 7:00 kick-off, Norris has new bleachers - we now sit on the West side of the field.
TEAMMATES: passing competition and NU football and volleyball ticket raffle at the Norris/Beatrice game. Norris and BHS will be selling raffle tickets jointly to help each schools’ respective TeamMates program. Be sure to watch the half-time competition and purchase a chance at some NU tickets.
Norris Booster Club is having Backyard Burgers Cook-Out in conjunction with the football game. Meal includes burger, chips and drink. $6.00 for Hamburger meal deal and $6.50 for cheese burger meal.

VOLLEYBALL: Beatrice Invite picks up again at 9:30 on 4 gyms. Top 8 teams will finish at the HS and the lowest 4 teams will play at the MS/City Auditorium
SOFTBALL: hosting a triangular vs South Sioux City at 10:00, then Duchesne at about 1:00 at Hannibal
MEETINGS /DEADLINES:
FLAG GIRLS are to pick up their uniforms after school in the band room. (LeFeber)
DUAL CREDIT: All students intending to register for a dual credit class this semester need to have their payment along with completed registration forms turned into Mrs. Morris in the Registrar's office by Friday p.m. (Fakler)
SCIENCE CLUB MEMBERS AND ALL STUDENTS INTERESTED IN JOINING Science Club please attend the first monthly meeting of Science Club next Tuesday, September 7th at 7:45 am OR 3:34 pm in the Ozone. (Dr. Christen/Mrs. Moore)

KEY CLUB forms and dues are due next Wednesday. Please give those to either Mrs. Fakler, or Mrs. Lineweber in the front office. Many Key Club volunteers are needed for the Paddock Lane and Stoddard Carnivals. Please see the sign-up sheet in Mrs. Fakler's room today. These events are quickly approaching.
