News from Mrs. Frerichs

Next week our theme will be “Colors.” If you are able, please send
your child in the following color each day:
Monday-red
Tuesday-blue
Wednesday-yellow
Thursday-green
Friday-orange
Things we did this week:
• Learned how to use materials appropriately at the following
centers: Playhouse, Blocks, ABC’s, Puzzles, Legos, Math, Library,
Sand, Art, Writing, Social Studies, Games, and Science.
• Started our “First Week of School Book”
• Learned our table, special spot (place on the carpet), how we go
out and come in from recess, how to go through the lunch line, how
to line up “like a kindergartner,” how to sit on the carpet “like a
kindergartner,” what 0, 1, and 2 voices are, what “eyes up” means,
and how to keep our hands to ourselves.
• Wrote in our August journal
• Read stories about going back to school. A few were: Miss
Bindergarten Gets Ready for Kindergarten, The Kissing Hand, Froggy
Goes to School, and Chica Chicka Boom Boom.
• Made a special Chicka Chicka Boom Boom snack.
Ask your child to tell you about some of the things we did this
week!
A few reminders:
• Please make sure your child knows how they are to get home each
day after school.
• Please make sure your child knows if they are hot or cold lunch
each morning so we don’t have to check backpacks. Also, make sure
they know if they are cold lunch whether or not they need to get a
milk.
• Practice those lunch numbers at home please!
