September 29 & October 1-Parent/Teacher conferences
5:00-9:00-If only one of these nights works for you please let
Carol, our school secretary know as she is the one who arranges
conference times.
October 2-No school
October 22-23-No school for students
We officially started our new reading program on Monday
We have been practicing writing our names with the first letter
capital and the rest lower case. Please practice writing them at
home this way too!

Things we’ve been doing since my last newsletter:
Color unit-Your child should know the basic colors.
Learned a song for every color
Shape unit-Your child should be able to recognize circle, square,
rectangle and triangle.
Made a shape beach book.
Pretended to go to the beach… we made grass skirts, octopus, beach
towels, kids in swim suits, and rainbow fish
Learned how to rotate through work stations
Learned how to use most of the centers in the classroom
properly
Started our apple unit
Had an apple taste test and graphed our favorite color of
apples
Learned about Johnny Appleseed and made pot hats like he wore
Practiced writing #’s 1-10 in our apple books (please help your
child practice these at home too!)
Is anyone interested in donating an item from the grocery store? We
need 23 small packages (Halloween candy size) of m & m’s, 23
individual packages of applesauce (snack size), a jug of apple
juice, a package of styrofoam cups, gallon size baggies, cheap dish
soap, and a package of candy pumpkins and candy corn. Let me know
if you’re interested in donating an item. THANKS!
