MANNERS  for TODAY:   from HOW RUDE!  By Dr. Alex J. Packer    HINTS TO HELP WITH THANK YOU NOTES -

ALWAYS MENTION THE GIFT BY NAME:  If you thank them for the “wonderful and generous gift”, they know immediately that it’s a form letter being cranked out.  Even if it’s handwritten!  Make the effort to refer to their specific gift in some identifiable way. 

 

EVENTS & ACTIVITIES  -  Friday

GIRLS BASKETBALL:  at Skutt, JV will play at 5:45, varsity at 7:30pm. Dismiss at 2:50 to depart at 3:00

WRESTLING:  at Raymond Central Invite all day.

SPEECH: at Om. Skutt, dismiss 5th period to eat A lunch before loading at 12:00 noon.

 

EVENTS & ACTIVITIES  -  Saturday

LIMITED EDITION:  at Om. Westside

BOYS BASKETBALL:  hosting Ralston, JV at 5:45 and V at 7:30

FINE ARTS BOOSTER CLUB’s annual Chili Feed is Saturday from 5:30-7:30 in the BHS commons area in conjunction with the Ralston Basketball game this Saturday.  $5.00 for all you can eat chili or chicken noodle soup.

Congratulations to the boys and girls swimming and diving teams for defeating Lincoln Northstar in dual action last night.  Boys score- BHS 153/LNS 52; girls score- BHS 138/LNS 81.  Congratulations also to the new state qualifiers- Lucas Martin in diving and Andrew Nelson in both the 50 and 100 freestyle.

 

SCIENCE CLUB FEBRUARY MEETING is Tuesday, February 2, in the Ozone at 7:45 a.m. ONLY. We will be taking pictures for the yearbook. Please wear your red Science Club shirt or a plain red shirt.

 

SPRING PLAY AUDITIONS:  after school all next week.  Play revolves around a humorous look at Greek Mythology.  Pick up audition information from Mrs. Hubka. 

 

JOIN THE CIRCUS!:  if you are 14 years of age or older you may apply to work at the Shrine Circus over spring intercession (March 17 – 21) selling Sno Cones or Cotton Candy, nine performances, you will be paid per tray sold.  Applications in the main office.  More information available from Jim Bowers at 228-2308.

 

LOST & FOUND: on a table in the main office, includes 2 newer winter coats that will need to be described to be claimed.  Please come in to see if your lost items have been turned in. 

 

Beatrice Public Schools Essential Behavior Skills Program:   This week we are stressingRESPONSIBILITY.  This week's skill is "ACCEPT NO FOR AN ANSWER."

 

STUDENT DRIVERS:  Please do NOT park in the staff parking any time during the school day.  Often teachers/staff leave for supplies or for appointments only to return to find a student has taken their parking spot.  We can tow if this continues to be a problem. 

SECOND SEMESTER FEES need to be paid, please get them taken care of before the fee turns into a fine. 

NO BACKPACKS  in the cafeteria lines during lunch or breakfast.    

NO FOOD outside the Commons Area.

WASH YOUR HANDS OFTEN and WELL:  still our best way to combat the spread of germs.

 

Scholarships, Classes & Deadlines:

Additional INFO on any of the above is available from the Student Services Office.

The Lincoln Home Builders Care Foundation authorizes five scholarships to students attending SCC-Milford or Construction Management at UN-L entering the construction field in either electrical. Plumbing, construction management, etc.    Deadline is March 1, 2010.

 

America’s Milk Processors and USA TODAY provide for the “Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year” (Sammy 2010 Award Program).  Outstanding scholar athletes must be nominated based on academic performance, athletic excellence, leadership, community service, and milk experience.  Apply on-line only at:  www.bodybymilk.com  Deadline is March 5, 2010.

 

Tri-County Board of Realtors provides for a scholarship for students attending Southeast Community College in Beatrice, Lincoln or Milford.  Deadline is March 15, 2010.

 

JUNIOR BOYS interested in attending Cornhusker Boys State this summer should stop by Student Services and pick up an application.  The applications are due March 1st.  If you have questions see Mr. Post.
