THOUGHT for TODAY:     And if not now, when? – Talmud

 

EVENTS & ACTIVITIES  - 

STATE DIVING:  Lucas Martin, Trevor Williams and Zach Warner will compete all day along with Seth DeBoer, the Co-op diver from Fairbury. 

 

GIRLS DISTRICT BASKETBALL:   5:45pm vs Waverly.   Games are at Lincoln High, 2229 J  Street.  Parking is in the North or South parking lots.  Enter the west or east side of the gym hallway.  Admission:  $5 adults, $4 students (K-12)   No ticket pre-sales.   No noisemakers permitted.  Spectators are expected to stay off the playing floor at all times.

 

JAZZ BAND:  gig at the Kensington dismiss at 11:00 a.m.

 

MEETINGS /DEADLINES

Cheerleaders on competition squad and all the dance team members who competed at state to meet in the commons for a picture in uniform after school at 3:45 p.m.

 

SPRING PLAY practice after school today.  (Hubka)

 

SPEECH PRACTICE after school.  Rapunzel OID right after school in Rm 235.  Watch for note regarding Districts this Saturday.  (Loading at 6:45 to depart at 7:00 a.m.)

Tryouts for 2010-2011 Dance team, Fall Cheerleading, and Winter Cheerleading will be held on Monday, March 8.  Packets are available in the office.  Any student interested in trying out needs to sign up by Wednesday, March 3rd.  Practice for the tryouts will be Saturday, morning March 6.  Questions about tryouts Mrs. Wendie Meyer for dance, and to Mrs. Kari Murray for cheer.

 

PIONEER STAFF requests pictures following days for the following teams: 

1.  all wrestlers who competed at state on Friday during mentor for a picture.

2.  all boys and girls basketball players and the swimmers/divers who are competing at STATE this week to report to the commons during mentor Monday, March 1st for a picture. 

 

SOPHOMORES:  Deli International fund raisers.  They are due to Mr. Meyer by Friday, Feb 26th end of day. 

 

GIRLS SOCCER:  any who signed up for a sweatshirt must turn their $23 in by the end of tomorrow.  Please give to either Mrs. Lineweber at the front window or to one of the seniors.

 

FROSH:  registration sheets are due to your counselor Friday.  Talk to core teachers about recommended classes. 

 

BOYS BASEBALL:  meeting Friday, February 26th in Mr. Ekarts room 228, 3:45 p.m. 

 

BOYS SOCCER:  athletes & parents are reminded of the ice cream social in FCS Rm 121 on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. to meet and visit with the new soccer coach, Cory Wells. 

 

GIRLS TENNIS:   will meet in Mr. Junkers Rm. 110 on Monday right after school. (Coach Cook)

 

TRACK AND FIELD ATHLETES:  Practice will start next Monday @ 3:50pm.  Please report to the Middle School Gym.  Due to a water main issue on 4th Street please park in the administration parking lot.

 

HOMESTEADER YEARBOOKS being reserved over lunch all week - $60 – deadline for ordering is Friday.  (Buchholz)

 

POST PROM:  Purchase your Post-prom admission and T-shirts  Friday during all lunches, (table will again be set up).  The cost is $20. (Fakler)

 

Beatrice Public Schools Essential Behavior Skills Program:   This week we are stressingTRUSTWORTHINESS.  This week's skill is "FOLLOW THROUGH ON COMMITMENTS."

 

HANDBOOKS:  Students need to carry their handbooks with them anytime they leave the classroom.   $2 to replace.   

NO BACKPACKS  in the cafeteria lines during lunch or breakfast.    

NO FOOD outside the Commons Area.

WASH YOUR HANDS OFTEN and WELL:  still our best way to combat the spread of germs.

 

Scholarships, Classes & Deadlines:

Additional INFO on any of the above is available from the Student Services Office.

There will be a representative from Northwest Missouri State University on Thursday.  If you are interested in visiting with this representative, please leave your name with Student Services.

 

CHANGED FROM WHEN PUBLISHED IN FINANCIAL AID/SCHOLARSHIP BOOKLET:  The Kiwanis-DeanBrandt/Ralph Roszell Scholarship has been changed to be a one time scholarship of $1,000 and will now be available to a student furthering his/her education in a Nebraska two or four year school.  Preference will be given to Southeast Community College students. 

 

The Nebraska Legal Professionals Association provides scholarships for students who wish to further their education in law or the legal support field with a cumulative g.p.a. of 2.500.  Deadline is March 31, 2010. 

The Omaha Chapter of the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP) offers scholarships for students whose career plans will take them into Information Technology related fields at schools in Omaha, Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa.  Deadline is April 4, 2010.  Email mary.dobransky@bellevue.edu to request an application packet.

 

The James M. Cox Foundation awards scholarships to students with an academic record that indicates he/she will be successful in their chosen field.  Awards are based on financial need.  Deadline is April 15, 2010.

 

The Lincoln Builders Bureau provides for a scholarship program for employees or the child of an employee.  For company member eligibility, go to www.buildersbureau.com  Deadline is April 1.
