EVENTS & ACTIVITIES 

BOYS DISTRICT BASKETBALL:  vs Norris at 7:30 at Lincoln High’s gym.   Same instructions as last week with the girls.  Admission is $5 Adults, $4 Students.  Park in the North & South lots enter from either the West or East side of the gym hallway.  No noisemakers and spectators are expected to stay off the playing floor at all times. 

 

MEETINGS /DEADLINES

ORANGE BOOSTER CLUB MEETING:  scheduled for tonight is cancelled.

 

ART CLUB meeting tonight:  Important.  Short.   All members required to be there.  (Dungan)

 

BOYS BASEBALL PRACTICE:  at admin gym today.  9th & 10th  at 5:00 – 5:40, 11th & 12th at 5:45 – 6:30.

 

GIRLS TENNIS:   will meet in Mr. Junker’s Rm. 110, right after school. 1/2 hour meeting then we will be heading to the courts.  Dress warm.   (Coach Cook)

 

TRACK AND FIELD ATHLETES:  Practice will start @ 3:50pm.  Please report to the Middle School Gym.  Due to a water main issue on 4th Street please park in the administration parking lot and walk over. (Coach Cerny)

 

SOPHOMORES:  fundraiser money must be in by 3:45 today if you wish to have your sales ordered!  (Mr. Meyer)

 

SCHOOL-TO-CAREER:  Work Hour forms for last week are due to Mr. Campbell TODAY!

Congratulations to the Girls Basketball team for qualifying for the state  tournament.  Their first game will be Thursday, 9:00am, in the Devaney Center.  Due to the number of snow days we have already had, school will NOT be dismissed for the tournament.  Students who wish to attend the game are expected to provide the school with parent permission prior to Thursday.  Students are also expected to return to BHS by 1:00 p.m. or 6th period class.  Permission can be in the form of a phone call or a note that is signed and dated by a parent.  If a student does not provide this parent permission or does so after the absence, he or she will be counted truant.  (Sutter/Randel)

 

by beating Pius last Friday.  Next step is Gretna, Thursday at 9:00 in the Devany Sports Center.  Instructions for absences and signing out are found on pages 34-36 of your student pass/handbook.

 

Congratulations to the Boys Swim & Dive Coop team and to Andrew Nelson, Seth DeBoer and Trevor Williams for their successes at State.  Seth and Trevor made a second cut in diving and Andrew finished 3rd in the 200 Free and 2nd in the 500 Free.  As a team, they finished 15th in the all classes event.  

 

Congratulations to Bethany Randel and Anna Spilker  for qualifying for State in Duet Acting.  Sara Mencl got 6th place in Entertainment.  The following people received Superiors:  Ryan Rabstejnek, Bethany Randel, Sara Mencl, J. R. Beavers, Amanda Daubendiek, and the OID team which consists of:  Ryan, Anna, Sara, J. R. and Natalie Frahm. 

 

Congratulations to the Drumline and Color Guard for placing 2nd and 4th respectively on Saturday. 

 

Tryouts for 2010-2011 Dance team, Fall Cheerleading, and Winter Cheerleading will be held on Monday, March 8.  Packets are available in the office.  Any student interested in trying out needs to sign up by Wednesday, March 3rd.  Practice for the tryouts will be Saturday, morning March 6.  Questions about tryouts Mrs. Wendie Meyer for dance, and to Mrs. Kari Murray for cheer.

 

SCIENCE CLUB MARCH MEETING is tomorrow, March 2, at 7:45 am ONLY in the Ozone. Please be on time. (Dr. Christen/Mrs. Moore).

 

BOYS GOLF:  will meet in Mr. Junker’s Rm. 110, Wednesday at 3:45 p.m. (Coach Stuart)

 

JUNIORS:  ASVAB testing for all 11th graders is Wednesday (March 3)  Please find what room you will be testing in before that morning.  Testing begins at 8:12.  You will get some reliable career information as a result of this testing.

 

Beatrice Public Schools Essential Behavior Skills Program:   This week we are stressingRESPECT.  This week's skill is "ACCEPT AUTHORITY."

 

HANDBOOKS:  Students need to carry their handbooks with them anytime they leave the classroom.   $2 to replace.   

NO BACKPACKS  in the cafeteria lines during lunch or breakfast.    

NO FOOD outside the Commons Area.

WASH YOUR HANDS OFTEN and WELL:  still our best way to combat the spread of germs.

 

Scholarships, Classes & Deadlines:

Additional INFO on any of the above is available from the Student Services Office.

CHANGED FROM WHEN PUBLISHED IN FINANCIAL AID/SCHOLARSHIP BOOKLET:  The Kiwanis-Dean Brandt/Ralph Roszell Scholarship has been changed to be a one-time scholarship of $1,000 and will now be available to a student furthering his/her education in a Nebraska two or four year school.  Preference will be given to Southeast Community College students. 

 

There will be a representative here from UN-L on Tuesday.  If you would like to visit with this representative, please stop by Student Services and leave your name. 

 

If you are interested in a health related career, you might want to attend the March 27 Health Exploration day at Bryan LGH College of Health Sciences.  See your counselor for more information.
