On March 30, 2012, Beatrice High Schools Boys Basketball coach, Jim Weeks, accepted the head coaching position at Doane College in Crete, Nebraska.

Weeks coached for 24 years at Beatrice High School.  He has been an inspiration to many students and athletes.

Reece Gronewold, sophomore basketball player, said that he’s happy for Weeks but at the same time worried about the season next year. “I don’t know how good this next coach will be or how good our program will be."

Coach Weeks said he’s excited to build up a college program. Doane did not have a good season last year. Weeks said, “I was thrilled by the idea of coaching all day long. It’s something I’m good at and I love to do it.”

Weeks is a 1985 graduate of Doane College. He graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Education and later received his Master’s Degree from Doane in 2000.

He will be bringing Beatrice assistants, Ben Essam and Jim Edwards as part-time assistants as well as Beatrice graduates, Brent Menke and Eric Jones who will serve as Graduate Assistants.
