An idiom is a combination of words that has a figurative meaning, due to its common usage, idioms are not to be taken literally. Today’s idiom: SEND IN THE CLOWNS: Is meant as a distraction. In an old style circus or big top carnival, sending in the clowns was used to distract and audience from a bad performance or technical glitch (read this as a cast or crew injury, possibly fatal).
EVENTS & ACTIVITIES:
SWIMMING: to Hastings for a 4:00 dual. Please dismiss at 11:15.
GIRLS BASKETBALL: at Waverly, JV at 5:30 and V at 7:00. Please dismiss at 3:10.
MEETINGS / DEADLINES:
the athletes who wore a cheerleading skirt for the Powder Puff game please turn in your skirt to the office by Friday January 17. (Thompson)
GIRLS TENNIS: meeting for anyone interested in competing this next spring, after school TONIGHT 3:40 in the commons area. (Strubel)
Speech practice after school until 5:00 and during Mentor tomorrow. If you are wanting to compete or attend the Speech Meet this Saturday at Raymond let Mr. Ankrom know by Wednesday.
YEARBOOK STAFF – ABSOLUTE LAST - FINAL TURN IN DATE for SENIOR PICTURES or BABY PICTURES. JANUARY 15 –TOMORROW. Yearbook needs to make this deadline to the publisher.
Early Childhood Education students from last semester, you have until Wednesday to collect your preschools and supplies. (Fralin)

The mission of Beatrice High School is to guarantee all students will meet or exceed their individual academic goals and exhibit responsible citizenship.
Beatrice High School Improvement Goals
During the 2019-2020 school year, 60% of BHS juniors will receive a score of seven (7) or higher on the ACT writing assessment.
By utilizing individual goal setting and tracking progress, BHS will work to improve student MAP assessment scores; with 70% of BHS students at grade level or higher at the end of the 2019-2020 school year.
