WHAT WE’RE LEARNING
Social/Emotional
This week, our young learners have been focusing on the concept of personal space. Through engaging read-alouds like Clark the Shark and Harrison P. Spader, Personal Space Invader, students are practicing what it means for everyone to have their own “personal bubble.”
Literacy
In small groups, large groups, and play time, students have been practicing remembering the order of events in stories and retelling them. Favorite stories such as The Three Little Pigs and Pete the Cat were huge hits! Ask your child to retell one of these stories to you at home using words like “first,” “next,” and “last.”
Math
During math portions of the day, students practiced the tricky skill of quantifying. Many classrooms used small groups of manipulatives or dice to practice recognizing how many are in a small group of items without counting. At home, try playing board games with dice to practice more!
