High School Attendance Guidelines

Explained to Reinforce Importance

BHS Attendance Procedures for 2017-18

Once a BHS student reaches 5 single period absences to a class, an administrator will hold a documented conference with the student to address the absences and discuss a corrective plan.

If a BHS student reaches 10 single period absences to a class, an administrator will hold a documented conference with the student and their parent/guardian.  A corrective plan will be developed and the student will lose the opportunity to leave school early on PLC Wednesdays. (2:15-3:34)

If a BHS student reaches 15 single period absences to a class, an administrator will hold a documented conference with the student and their parent/guardian.  The previously developed corrective plan will be reviewed and the student will additionally lose the opportunity to leave school early on release Fridays.  (2:49-3:34)

When a BHS student reaches 20 single period absences to a class, an administrator will hold a documented conference with the student and their parent/guardian.  The student will remain in the course(s) they have exceeded more than 20 absences in, but will have credit withheld.  A contract will be developed that will identify the improvement that the student must demonstrate with absences during the second semester.  The student will not receive credit for the first semester, until the agreed upon contract is finalized at the conclusion of second semester, and it is determined that the student has successfully completed the contract stipulations.  If the student does not meet the contract requirements, the student will not receive credit.

If a student does not violate the attendance procedures during the first semester, but does during the second semester, a decision will be made by administration on whether the student will receive credits for passed classes prior to the student leaving for the summer break.  No contract will be developed for that student due to the end of the school year.
