National Anthem Day commemorates the day the United States adopted “The Star Spangled Banner” as its National Anthem. Written by Francis Scott Key, the “Star Spangled Banner” became the National Anthem in 1931 with the signing of an executive order by President Woodrow Wilson, that it was formally designated as such.
CLASS COMPETITIONS: Senior Class had the fewest amount of office referrals last week. Updated points: Seniors - 425 pts, Freshmen - 275 pts and Tie - Sophomores & Juniors - 250 pts. Listen for details about the next competition which will take place on St. Patrick's Day on Tuesday, March 17th.
Sophomores: Remember you have a $10 Class Fundraising amount assigned to you now. This is because your class didn’t do fundraising this year. Prom and graduation is part of what the class fundraising “fee” pays for.

SCHOLARSHIPS, CLASSES & DEADLINES: Additional INFO in Student Services Office.
JUNIOR BOYS that are interested in attending Cornhusker Boys State this summer should stop by the Student Services office and pick up an application. Reminder that Boys State Apps are due this FRIDAY, March 6.
JUNIORS INTERESTED IN LAW ENFORCEMENT: The American Legion and Nebraska State Patrol sponsor the Junior Law Cadet Program during the summer in Grand Island. Any junior boy or girl interested need to see Mr. Post for an application. Deadline to apply is March 6th.
DRIVER EDUCATION SUMMER CLASSES: The Nebraska Safety Council has opened its website for the Beatrice area. GO to the following website: www.nesafetycouncil.org select Driving,Teen driver education, then Beatrice and you can register there. Please also get your drive times scheduled at that time. Classes will be capped at 24 students. The two classes lead by Mike Policky (BMS Social Studies instructor) will be June 1-4 from 8AM-1 PM and June 8-11 from 8AM-1PM. They will both be held at Beatrice High School. Cost is $325.
SOUTHEAST NE UMPIRES ASSOCIATION ANNUAL UMPIRES CLINIC, SATURDAY, MARCH 7, 2020,

The Salvation Army sponsors the D. J.'s Hero Awards. Recognition of Nebraska high school seniors who exemplify perseverance and selflessness, and who are servant-leaders in their community. There will also be a new D.J. Hero Creighton University Athletic Department Scholarship. Postmark deadline is March 9, 2020. More information and applications available at www.salarmyomaha.org

The mission of Beatrice High School is to guarantee all students will meet or exceed their individual academic goals and exhibit responsible citizenship.
Beatrice High School Improvement Goals
During the 2019-2020 school year, 60% of BHS juniors will receive a score of seven (7) or higher on the ACT writing assessment.
By utilizing individual goal setting and tracking progress, BHS will work to improve student MAP assessment scores; with 70% of BHS students at grade level or higher at the end of the 2019-2020 school year.
